10-year disqualification from racecourses for former Scunthorpe boy and Manchester United footballer Mark Wilson
The results of a disciplinary panel regarding a former licensed jockey and eight unlicensed individuals, including former Scunthorpe schoolboy Mark Wilson - once of Manchester United - has ended.
Wilson was charged with conspiring to commit “a corrupt act or a fraudulent practice in breach of the rules of racing”.

Although Wilson challenged the jurisdiction of the disciplinary panel, it decided that it had the power to hear the charge and held that he was actively engaged in the conspiracy and was also “engaged in offering a bribe” to a jockey.
He has been disqualified for 10 years, which means he cannot set foot on any racecourse or training establishment licensed by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), or have any dealings with a person involved in horseracing who is licensed by the BHA.
