Motorists who leave their engines running while stationary could get £20 fines. Read this letter to the Scunthorpe Telegraph's Viewpoint section and have your say on the issue.

Reading the Scunthorpe Telegraph headline concerning NorthLincolnshire Council thinking about fining people who leave their engines running, this came as no surprise.

After 13 years of a Socialist government, we should all be well used to being told what we can and can't do by interfering officials.

But, is this yet another case of do as I say, not do as I do from the council?

Only two days before the article appeared, I walked past two trucks parked up, both with their engines running, while their operators were eating their lunch. When I came back, 25 minutes later, they were still there, still with their engines running.

It should come as no surprise to you that the trucks were the council's.

You are either serious about climate change or not.

Personally I think the whole subject is a load of old flannel.

“Council have annouced common sense emasures mainyl targetting good vehicles who keep their engines running whilst unloading.

Yet the SET still managed to lure plenty of imbeciles in with this non-story.”

    “Chris, Barton

    Sorry you believe that.

In the meantime, can you explain why the Global temperature is increasing at a unprecedented rate and in a very positive correlation to Man's use of fossil fuels during the last 150 years.
Scientists are finding unnatural man-made gasses bleaching and depleting the Ozone layer....an essential layer that filters Solar cancer rays and which react with C02 by warming the gas.
Don't be fooled by the sceptics who claim that the present Global Warming is natural...as it has happened continuously in the Earth's evolution. Yes, the Earth's climate has changed....but past changes have taken hundreds of thousands of years - the only exception is when Earth was hit by giant meteor - killing dinosaurs and 70 percent of all life forms.....this led to rapid cooling and the Earth became an Ice Ball.
Don't be fooled by the sceptics who refer to the Mini Ice Age - about 1650 to 1840 - this was confined to Europe, while Global temperatures remained constant. Local variations still occur - take the El Nino, for example.
Meanwhile, Global temperature is still rising.
Man is using millions of years of otherwise safely locked up C02 and other gasses (coal, oil, gas) in less than 2 hundred years.
We need some C02 in the atmosphere - it actually creates warmth and by itself, would not necessarily create a deadly situation.
In addition, Solar rays help to create the important protective Ozone Layer, but this layer is being attacted from underneath by man-made gasses and instead of being beneficial, the potential deadly Solar rayspenetrate the atmosphere.
Overall, it is not an inevitable progression and carbon footprinting is not a con.”

“I also happen to think all this about climate change and carbon footprinting is a big con and a money making racket. Climate change is an inevitable progression over which we have no control and whatever we do, it will still happen.”
