2pm UPDATE: Motorists travelling out of North Lincolnshire still face delays after fatal collision on M18
A section of the M18 was still closed this afternoon (Friday Feb 8)- seven hours after an accident.
Motorists travelling from North Lincolnshire into South Yorkshire this morning were urged to delay journeys if possible, following a fatal collision.

At 2pm the M18 remained closed southbound between junction 4 for the A630 near Doncaster and junction 2 for the A1 (M), with traffic congestion going back to junction 5, for the M180.
The incident happened at 7.05am and accident investigation work is continuing at the scene.

The crash involved a lorry and several other vehicles.
The road is likely to be closed throughout the morning.
A diversion is in operation via the A630 from junction 4, around Doncaster and onto the A1 (M) at junction 36.
The Highways Agency is urging drivers to avoid the area and/or delay journeys if possible as the diversion route is likely to remain very busy.
