£30k spend on new climbing wall for Scunthorpe Pods under consideration
A £30,000 climbing wall is being suggested in Scunthorpe at the Pods leisure centre, off Ashby Road.
Such a facility was included in the original scheme for the building but was removed "due to concerns over cost."

However, a climbing wall is now under consideration at cabinet level within the council.
An appropriate space has been identifed on the sports hall viewing gallery.

Schools have been identified as likely users of the wall, if it goes ahead.
A decision will be made by Councillor Carl Sherwood (Brigg and Wolds), whose cabinet responsibilities include sport and leisure.
The Pods, which opened in June 2011, is expected to enjoy 384,000 visits during 2012.
It has a 25m, eight-lane swimming pool, a training pool, fitness centre, two studios, a six-court sports hall, café and crèche.
A council officer's report - prepared at Scunthorpe Civic Centre for Councillor Sherwood to consider - suggests the climbing wall "will also provide a potential opportunity to develop additional revenue streams."
The estimated annual income is being put at about £3,000.
Existing staff "will be trained to operate the climbing wall."
A decision is not expected to be taken before February 12.

“If they'd have spent the money on the facilities in the Pods rather than on the building design itself then Scunthorpe would of had a sports centre to be proud of.
P.S Whatever happened to the climbing wall at West Common Lane sports hall?”
