North Lincolnshire has performed better than the majority of counties across the country.
Last year 83 per cent of children nationally secured their preferred secondary school. This year's figures are yet to be released.
Parent Andrew Tebb, 34, from Messingham, said choosing the right secondary school can make a huge difference to pupils.
"I was delighted when my son Ryan was accepted to his first choice school," he said.
"He is currently in year six at Messingham and will be going on to Huntcliff.
"I wasn't too worried that he wouldn't get his first choice but it is important the children are happy because it is a big change for them.
"Ryan will be going to secondary school with a number of his friends, which will hopefully ease the transition."
Mr Tebb said the application process was extremely easy for parents.
"The whole process has clearly been handled well," he added.
"The application was really easy - it literally took 30 seconds online."

“Once again people jump on the bandwagon. My children go to Fred Gough and i have no complaints whatsoever. Every single school has trouble-makers, sadly they are the ones to get the attention, press coverage, etc. A friend of mine works at this school and says it's the best she's ever worked at - this includes grammar schools. It is a large school with a minority of problem pupils, the vast majority do very well and the staff are superb. If it was a failing school, OFSTED would have placed it in special measures by now...as has happened in many other schools in the region of late.
Please think before submitting hurtful comments which do not carry any weight behind them at all.”

“If kids try hard they will always do well. For the failing kids it's the parents that should be placed in special measures.”

“I find it amusing that people are on here moaning about the standards at the school when they can't even spell or formulate a sentence themselves.......”

“most sensible people will understand that every school has a minority of pupils who do not act as the rest of us might wish. however this is a reflection on society not on the school. there are some fantastic kids at frederick gough and they do not deserve the negative comments that are appearing here.”

“Are you sure every kid at that school isn't smoking pot, supping ale, spitting and swearing??
Listen love, they're ALL at it and your kid will be the same, don't let him fool you otherwise. I've seen them at this school, it's a breeding ground for the Jeremy Kyle show.”
