ADHD sufferer produces leaflet
A LEAFLET created by a schoolboy sufferer of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has been distributed throughout the county to raise awareness of the condition.
Bradlei Byrne (10), of Scunthorpe, was sick of being labelled a naught kid and set out to change people's perception by raising awareness of ADHD.

He said: "People at school say it is nothing because they do not understand it. I want to let people know about ADHD and to help other people cope with it."
Bradlei enlisted the help of Coun Tony Gosling, cabinet member for children's services at North Lincolnshire Council to help spread the message about his condition by producing a leaflet.
Coun Gosling said: "I think what he's done is something quite special. And it goes to show what a brave boy he is to not only confront his condition, but to want to help others deal with theirs."
The leaflet is being distributed to all schools, youth centres, children's centres, sport and leisure voluntary sector clubs in North Lincolnshire.

“Ann, clearly your extremely well informed, I mean if Wikipedia says so it must be true!!! Perhaps consider that the only reason people in western developed countries have these type of conditions diagnosed is because they are the only ones with blanket access to schools, doctors, pyschologists etc etc. Not so long ago in this country, people with conditions such as Down Syndrome, would have been institutionalised, nowadays this would not hapen as Health and Social Care professionals have a better understanding of the condition and how to support individuals with it. In the same way, as experts are finding out more about behavioural problems they can establish diagnostic boundries for "new" conditions such as ADHD and offer the relevant support. Just because a condition is new and did not exist 50 years ago does not mean that it is not real. Everything is new until someone discovers it.”

“Aw boohoo, how come it's only in the western developed worlds you hear about this kind of thing. Because there is a large industry relying on it that's why, and people looking for a label or an excuse when it's at themselves they should be looking.”
