IAN Baraclough believes Scunthorpe United's performance at Cardiff City offers hope for their battle for Championship survival - even though it ended in defeat.

Seyi Olofinjana's powerful header five minutes from time broke a stubborn Iron rearguard and moved the home side back into the automatic promotion places.

But while 'distraught' not to have picked up any points, Baraclough says his new-look side has the right kind of spirit to give themselves a fighting chance.

“Take a good look at yourself Dave. Surely even an idiot like you can see everyone here is laughing at you week in week out. Do your wife and kids know what you get up to? Or is it as I suspect that you still live at home with mummy? Grow up and get a life!”

“ive watched the slo mo replay of the goal last night about 6 times, and lillis was at fault the same as the second goal at borough, if we can see where he is making mistakes, why cant the goalkeeping coach(the flying pig), or is he coaching all the natural ability out of him, he could have punched that ball into row z.”

“Baraclough will be our manageruntil he is a success...even if that meant two relegatins, he wont go because then that would reflect on Wharton...he did the same with Laws and by the time (a decade) Laws left, he had eventually succeeded (albiet for one season)....ti will apply to Baraclough too.

    Up the Iron!”
