AUDIO: Scunthorpe United boss pulls no punches
SCUNTHORPE United manager Alan Knill was furious after his side were all but mathematically relegated from the Championship.
Two John Marquis goals ensured Millwall of a 2-1 victory at Glanford Park, with Michael O'Connor's late penalty a mere consolation.

“Simon In Boston i know you have had great success in recent times and that is down to attracting good players and winning managers. If you go back before the 1980's your club mainly languished at the bottom of league 2.Our proud history at Bury fc shows that we have won the fa cup twice and finished 4th in the top flight.Has Scunny ever been in the top tier of english football and when was that?Bury fc have actually spent more than half of their existence in the top 2 divisions if you care to google our history.I think many folk in the pre 1980's used to mock the iron for their lack of success like Stockport,Torquay and Tranmere. That tag then got passed on to Rochdale.Good luck with your campaign i genuinely hope that you can avoid relegation.I hear Joe Murphy is on his way to Donny,a good goalkeeper is worth 20 points a season.Ps our club is surrounded by well supported football clubs which affects our gates and makes people think we are a small club.I would love to know how Scunny would cope with having the Manchester teams on it's doorstep you don't have any serious rivalry.”

“Apparently "One good season in League 2 does not a make good League 1 side"...?
Good work Mike...
Also 4 times in 25 years...? We've had 4 in the last 13 years...? Two of which have been into the Championship...
And a tradition for buying strikers for nothing, moulding them to score a hatful of goals for us and then shipping them off for megabucks...! That's certainly a recent one for us, that we failed to meet this season, but must have managed for the previous 8 or 9...?
So I'd probably say we trump you on the promotions and Championship experience, but when did this become an arguement about who's better anyway...I mean, come on...”

“Oh dear Mike. Back to school for you! Never good to try and pick up on someone's sentence structure when you are ignorant of grammatical rules. I hope not all schools in Bury are so deficient. Look up "pre-tense grammar" if you would like to study up for next time.
Before you go complaining about this post and getting it removed as you do oh so tediously often, please remember this is in response to your post.”

“Dear lord, Mike...
If you're going to have a go at someone's sentence structure and order at least get it right...! Particularly when the sentence structure you're picking apart isn't an uncommon rearrangement of words.
Fairplay to you guys getting promoted, even after losing your manager, and I definitely hope you stay up next year.
If Alan Knill thought he was going to be getting a bigger budget for transfers and such by coming to Scunthorpe then he was a very silly man...! We're a club known for not spending money, haha...
Our relegation this season is definitely not in anyway Alan's fault. He'll go a big summer reshuffle by looks of things, complete rehaul of the squad and a top half finish for us next season in League One and I'll be happy...”

“Gary you really aught to be more respectful of other teams and their supporters.Knilly chased down a dream thinking that he was going to be afforded a bigger budget and plenty of wnda in the bank account that won't now materialise.Your gates will drop as ours will rise and in the end we will both be average teams in an average league.Face facts your club has no tradition and blueprint for success. We have been promoted 4 times in 25 years and have been a championship side ourself previously.I'm not sad mate i'm over the moon really.Your sentence structure made me laugh,"ONE GOOD SEASON IN LEAGUE 2 DOES NOT A GOOD LEAGUE 1 SIDE MAKE.Make should have been placed between the words a and good.W ehave finished 4th 9th and now 2nd it's no fluke that we got promotion so there it's been a 3 year project.”
