HOLME Hall's men's weekend betterball medal was reduced to a one-day competition because of the snow, which no doubt left the 66 first day players smiling.

The winners with a better back six were Chris Overton and Richard French with a nett 62 from Andrew Knapton and Chris Pearson.

A further shot back in third place were Mel Sargent and Brian McNeill.

Fortunately the ladies competition, a betterball stableford, also beat the wintry snap with the winners being Jenny Kennedy and her partner Elaine Farmery.

Even with Farmery's recent handicap reduction, they scored an excellent 40 points.

In second place with 38 points were Sue Brown and Sue Bancroft who beat Sue Bassingdale and Shirley Wynne on a countback.

In conjunction with this competition there was a qualifier for the English Women's Golf Association and Ping tournament, with Emilee Taylor and Ann Wright qualifying along with Jean List and Enid Meadows.
