Administrators call the tune for Scunthorpe HMV store
THE future of the Scunthorpe HMV store is officially in the hands of administrators Deloitte, now that they have been fully appointed.
HMV, which is headquartered in London, operates out of 223 stores in high streets and shopping centres across the UK, and has 4,123 employees.

Staff at the Scunthorpe store, located in The Parishes, remain unsure of their future, with no news on whether the branch will remain open.
Until such a time it is understood that the store will continue trading.

“Following our appointment, we are working closely with management and staff to stabilise the business in order to continue trading whilst actively seeking a purchaser for the business and assets. We appreciate the co-operation and support from the staff, customers, suppliers and landlords at what is clearly a difficult time.”

If that happens don't despair. The person who bought it can get their money back using a system known as 'chargeback'. This is a deal agreed by Visa, MasterCard and Amex whereby they take liability if a firm does not provide the goods or service it promises. It is particularly useful where a firm goes out of business. The card issuer will refund your money. There are a few restrictions – you normally have to apply within 120 days of the firm going bust. And MasterCard has a minimum amount of £10.
So if you have a card or gift voucher with Comet or Jessop or HMV then ask the person who bought it and gave it to you to reclaim the money and give you the cash. There is nothing so comforting on a gift as the words "Bank of England. I promise to pay the bearer the sum of…"”

“I hope they find a buyer for HMV as it's the last store for dvd games cds ect. as when i run out of amazon vouchers i often turn to HMV to buy cds ect.”
