Agony of Thai plane crash family
THE frustrated family of a Thai plane crash victim have spoken of their anguish at their two-year wait for answers.
On the second anniversary of the crash, which claimed the lives of four North Lincolnshire holidaymakers on September 16, 2007, investigators have revealed six probable causes of the fatal crash.
But the still grieving families have been told they will have to wait months before they know definite answers about the cause of the crash.
Karen Howell, mother of victim Susan Saunby, said: "The waiting is agonising. It's now two years since the crash and we are still no nearer the truth.
"We have to go through the anguish of the inquest hearings."
Newly-weds Steve Saunby, 40, and Susan, 26, and their best friends Harry, 43, and Helen Slater, 31, all from Scunthorpe, were among 90 people - including eight Britons - killed on September 16 2007.
In strong winds and heavy rain their jet liner veered off during a go around at Phuket International Airport and hit an embankment at the north of runway 27.
The Boeing MD-82, owned by One Two Go Airlines, broke up in flames and was completely destroyed.
In an interim report the aircraft accident investigation committee of Thailand said the probable causes of the crash included crew fatigue, weather conditions and air traffic control fault.
