Top App-Frod sides share spoils
AFTER a high-quality clash, two of the top sides in division three, App-Frod Beavers and App-Frod Inter Priory, shared the spoils following a 5-5 draw.
There were strong performances put in by all as Genesis Huang, Kyle Simpson and the ever-dependable Fred Kershaw all contributed for Priory.

Kev Townell lost only his second match of the season for Beavers but Shaun Foster secured two wins.
Youngster Connor Lynam was another at the pinnacle of his game, but he had no reward for some of the best table tennis he has played all season.
In the other division three fixture, it was very much a family affair when App-Frod Falcons overcome App-Frod Heroes, 8-2.
Falcons' father and son combination Mark and Daniel Shaw beat mother and daughter pairing Karen and Rebecca Kelly from Heroes.
The victorious side's cause was aided by Jordan Pitchford, who chipped in with a win, while Tom Clay won one for the Heroes.
There was just one game in division two, where Hospital Crusaders edged out App-Frod Spin Doctors, 6-4.
During the match, there was a contender for longest game of the season when two defensive players, John Gallagher and Stuart Nicholson, battled it out, with the former eventually winning in four sets. To highlight the length of the encounter, the fourth game finished 20-18.
App-Frod Titans held leaders App-Frod Angels to a 5-5 draw in the first division.
Mike Ellis and Andy Prescott were in fine form with two wins each, both beating the in-form Anth Thomas.
Martin Simpson triumphed in the final game of the evening for Titans.
But Andy Kelly was unbeaten on the night to keep Angels' unbeaten record alive.
Second-placed Winterton took full advantage of Angels' slip, overpowering SSC Aces, 10-0.
Darren Rush and Rob Trevethick starred for Winterton, but Trevethick was given a fright by John Mackey, needing the fifth and deciding game to finally beat the Aces man.
Winterton were helped out by guest player Mick Harris, who made a welcome return to Scunthorpe table tennis, winning all of his games.
In the first semi-final of the handicap competition, Division One's Sir John Nelthorpe edged out App-Frod Falcons by nine points, John Frost of Nelthorpe making the difference, only conceding 43 points on the night.
