OPENING batsman Duncan Heath will take over as captain of App-Frod CC from next summer.

He has been handed the role following Matt Morland's decision to step down after eight years as skipper.

Heath, a Cambridge blue, was, along with overseas player Tony Manning, the Steelmen's main run scorer last season. He was appointed captain at the club's AGM, held at Brumby Hall.

There were few other changes, with the club's office-holders re-elected.

Frod's second XI will again be skippered by Vinny Grimes, while Matty Fowler is in charge of the Sunday side.

Keiron Lindley has assumed the role of skippering the Steelmen team in the Broughton Evening League.

At the meeting, chairman Mike Campion welcomed wicketkeeper Tom Brooks to the club and informed members discussions were ongoing regarding the selection of an overseas player.

Vice-chairman Keith Wadd will lead a discussion over improving cricket facilities at Brumby Hall.

Potential changes to the format of the Yorkshire League will be discussed in January. Frod already know they will start the season with a home game against Doncaster.

Members were reminded winter nets will start at The Pods in February, with aspiring cricketers urged to come along and join in. Those interested should contact Mike Campion on 01652 658607.
