Attempted theft of handbag at Brigg Tesco car park follows earlier handbag theft

Police have arrested a man in connection with an attempted theft of a handbag - in the second incident of crime in Brigg Tesco car park this month (March 2013).

Humberside Police arrested a 44-year-old man, following an incident which took place in the car park of Tesco in Brigg on March 19.

A man travelling on a bicycle stole a handbag from the seat of a vehicle, situated in the car park. 

The owner of the handbag managed to snatch it back from the hands of the thief, who then rode away in an unknown direction.

The man was arrested a short time after the offence and was taken into custody in Scunthorpe.

He has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.

The previous incident happened earlier this month.

An 81-year-old woman left the Tesco store in Brigg shortly before 12.30pm on March 6 and unloaded her shopping from the trolley into her car. 

As she did so, a man on a bicycle opened the insecure passenger side door, stole the woman's black coloured leather handbag and cycled away in the direction of Lidl.
