Authority to decide next bridge tolls move
COUNCIL leaders will meet next week to discuss their next steps in the fight against the Humber Bridge tolls.
Chief executive Simon Driver will present a report to the council cabinet on Wednesday, outlining the findings of the Humber Bridge Tolls Impact Assessment and recommending the next move.
He is expected to tell the council leadership that continuing to present a united front with other councils in the region will be vital.
Mr Driver said: "We have got the evidence now but we won't have gained anything if the issue is just left to sit.
"We have come this far."
Mr Driver, along with council leader Coun Mark Kirk, has also written again to Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon to reiterate the council's opposition to tolling on the Humber Bridge.
The letter said: "We would go so far as to question whether there can be a meaningful City Region without addressing the issue of high tolls."
