Southampton withdraw offer to Nigel Adkins
SOUTHAMPTON have this morning withdrawn their offer to Nigel Adkins to take over as the club's new manager.
The Scunthorpe United boss and his assistant Andy Crosby had last night agreed terms to take charge at St Mary's - but a compensation package was something the Saints were alledgedly not willing to pay.
-

Adkins is reported to have refused to resign from his United post - a decision which has now seen the move collapse.
“The latest I’ve heard is that Southampton have withdrawn their offer to Nigel," said United chairman Steve Wharton.
“I’m on my way to Glanford Park this morning and hopefully everything will then become clearer.”
It means Adkins is now almost certain to continue his tenure at Glanford Park, where he will be in the dugout for Saturday's game against Bristol City.

“Its nice to see that southampton fans have respect for other teams and supporters. Its a shame that their board dont act in the same way. I think NA has a lucky escape. They have shown that they are not fit to run a football club. They have a history of not treating their managers in a correct way. This all goes back to the days of Dave Jones, albeit with a different chairman but some things never change. Good on you JonSaints,

“As a Saints fan I apologise for the poor conduct and lack of respect our chairman has shown you club. If he thought NA was good enough to be our next manager he should have been prepared to pay compensation! This portrays SFC is a very bad light!”

“RainMan 999
I was asking to see how many people would question it. I for one am happy to see Adkins remaining here with S.U.F.C.”

“Well done Nigel and Andy- true gents and nothing less than I would have expected.
No matter what you guys do in the future you certainly have my thanks and blessings, no matter where that may be, or when. I would of course ask that you stay with united but I am a realist and understand that talent will always strive to be better, which sometimes means moving to new pastures. Good luck no matter!”

“Jannersaint, have you chosen your song to sing for us yet at Yeovil (previous story).
How about 'Yesterday' 'Get Back' or 'Don't stop believing', as OUR manager says 'Believe to achieve'.
Portsmouth have more class!”
