Barnetby Top filling station robbers jailed
TWO men have been jailed for 13-and-a-half years for an
armed robbery at a North Lincolnshire filling station.
The men were sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court yesterday, for
the robbery at Barnetby Top station on March 24.
Anthony Smith, who was jailed for seven-and-a-half years,
and Ian Cockburn, who was jailed for six years, reversed a car
at the station's doors.
Smith (40), of Crecy Avenue, Doncaster, whose previous
convictions include offences of robbery, and Cockburn (30), of
Darlington Walk, Moorends, both admitted charges of robbery and
arson.
Judge John Reddihough told them their crime had greatly
affected the victim.
“She was approaching 60
years of age,” he said. “She was on her own and, as her
statement says, she was very frightened and upset, to the
extent she was not sure whether she would be able to go back to
work.”
