Beacon and College to clash in Scunthorpe Local Football Charity Shield

A well-known Scunthorpe amateur football match has been arranged for the Christmas period, in aid of charity.

The Scunthorpe and District Local Football Charity Shield (incorporating the Ashby Benevolent Cup) will see an attractive tie on Friday, December 28.

Beacon FC, of The Fallen Hero Scunthorpe Sunday Football League, will taken on College Wanderers, who play in the TSW Scunthorpe & District Saturday Football League.

The venue is the Brumby Hall sportsground, off Ashby Road (near the Pods) with kick-off at 1.30pm.

The match is being played by kind permission of the Appleby-Frodingham Athletic Club.

Spectators are being asked to make a minimum donation of £2.

Many football fans in the Scunthorpe area will remember the long-established Ashby Benevolent Cup.
