THE devastated dad of a scooter rider killed in a lorry collision has organised a safety awareness bike convoy in her memory.

Roy Sturdy, whose daughter Zoey died in the 2008 tragedy, wants to mark her 25th birthday on April 25 and raise awareness of scooter riders by leading a procession of 150 bikers to the Briggate Lodge roundabout.

The 23-year-old mum-of-two was killed there when her scooter collided with a lorry in an accidental collision.

Roy, 57, of Axholme Road, Scunthorpe, said: "With it being my daughter's 25th birthday, it may be something positive for her children to hang on to.

"And it may have the impact to make at least one car or lorry driver look before just going.

"I want to do something positive that prevents somebody going through the same emotions that I have been through, and all the rest of the family have gone through."

The riders will set off from the Old Farmhouse pub in Doncaster Road at 1.30pm.

They will then make their way along Kingsway and Queensway and up Mortal Ash Hill.
