Bikers bring Easter cheer to sick children
MORE than 50 motorbikes roared up to the main entrance of Scunthorpe General Hospital to deliver Easter eggs to sick children on Disney ward.
The Scunny Bikers Club collected the donations from local businesses and supermarkets on a tour around the town on Good Friday morning.

SPREADING EASTER CHEER: Egg-run participants and hospital staff gather outside Scunthorpe General Hospital to celebrate the success of their event.
And organiser Andy Ruddock said the event had been a big success.
Mr Ruddock said: "It's amazing just what the local community have pulled together and done for the children.
"It's fantastic what we have been able to do.
"This is the first egg run that Scunny Bikers have organised and I would really hope we make this an annual event and maybe bring a bike night to Scunthorpe.
"It's been a brilliant day and I can't thank people enough."
The motorcycle convoy featured Harley-Davidsons, Pathfinder Scooters and a host of other sports bikes.
Children's Nurse Practitioner Tracey Sarvesuaran (CORR) said the event was fantastic.
She said: "The bikers come every year and offer their support in a fantastic way.
"They never let us down and the children really appreciate it. It cheers them up."

“hi Sarah am glad she likes her sheep it was a gr8 pleasure, don't worry about this chap
some people like to cause trouble and this guy is one of them,
all the best Sarah and your little one
i too know what its like to have a child in the hospital a lot
my oldest was 2 months prem
his first month was in NICU
then home a week and rushed back in (he is fine now this was yrs ago)
but the only thing on your mind at hard times is your child's
health, and the rest is put on hold.
Doley
I would never wish you to find out what its like to have an ill child.
I do wish you would talk a long walk of a short plank.
also you moaning about verbal attacks--what do you think it is your doing ????
then trying to imply that all bikers go around beating people up. what do you aim to do? wake up people havent got bird brains and will not buy it.
are you a bitter person?
have you got your or thoughts or just the ones your bottle fed that you use to try and pass as smart?
in fact dont bother”

“My daughter has permanent, profound and multiple disabilities and spends far too much time on Disney Ward and we just happened to be there on Good Friday...and it was a good Friday when these lovely blokes, ladies & children came with the gifts that they had taken the time, energy and thoughtfulness to go and collect and redistribute to children, many whose parents can't leave them alone for long enough to buy Easter eggs/gifts, who are unfortunate enough to be spending time in hospital. Andy Ruddock & his friends succeeded in putting smiles on the faces of the cleaning staff, the nursing staff, the doctors and most importantly the children; it is completely beyond me how anyone could find fault in this act of enormous thought and kindness!!! Doley should keep his opinions to himself, as he obviously doesn't have first hand experience of caring for a poorly child be it as a parent, a nurse or a doctor.
A huge thank you from us, our daughter loves her pink sheep x”

“I rode part of the route, everyone involved was sincere, and the event was good for all. There will always be someone like doley who is airing his opinion to try and prompt comment. Just like there will be just one fight at the football, an incident of roadrage, or one who gets locked up when abroad!!!”

“Can I suggest 2 bikers take doley to Queensway roundabout, attach his legs to the back of both bikes, then one head for Donny and the other to Grimsby. By the time they reach their destination there should be nothing left.”

“Typical of these biker clans, if they don't like what being said they gang up on individuals and attack them (this time verbally), they've even got their bints to join in.
This speaks volumes about the wider consensus about them.”
