Biomass plant plans shelved
PLANS for an £80-million straw burning power plant in Scawby Brook have been shelved because of flooding fears.
Worries about the possibility of flooding on the site mean developer Eco2 must now go back to the drawing board on the design.

The Environment Agency's concerns have led to Eco2 withdrawing their plans from North Lincolnshire Council planners but Eco 2's chief executive David Williams said: "The Environment Agency has requested more detail about the outline proposals to deal with the potential for flooding at the site, and we will be presenting a fully worked solution on this issue.
"This detail will take some time to produce, and could impact on other aspects of the plant design."
But news of the setback has delighted protestors.
Residents Against Biomass action group chairman Tony Longland said: "I am ecstatic and I have had constant emails from residents asking if it was true.
"I have been the voice but there has been a lot of people working in the background, going through files and picking out faults that we can highlight.
"It has been a real team effort."

“Does this mean all the grotty "no to the Biomass" posters will be taken down now? I'm fed up of walking down my estate picking them up after a windy night”

“It won't take much redesigning. Put 10 foot (that's English measure) of land fill down and build it on top, then it won't flood!”
