Black ice threat on some Scunthorpe area roads today with cold weather to continue
With temperatures in the Scunthorpe area reported to have plunged as low as -5C overnight, motorists were faced with the threat of black ice on some roads early today.
Council gritters are sent out to treat pre-arranged major routes but not secondary roads and those on housing estates.

Patches of freezing fog pose another potential hazard to drivers.
In a very early morning Tweet, Sgt James Main, of Scunthorpe police, advised allowing extra travel for journeys after defrosting vehicles fully before driving off.

The latest forecast for the Met Office suggests no snow today, but mist and fog patches remaining throughout.
There were early reports of delays to train services through Scunthorpe due to a problem with line-side equipment in the Grimsby area.
All North Lincolnshire Council schools remain open as usual today.
