BOSS Brian Laws is hoping to boost his Scunthorpe United squad further before the loan transfer window closes a week today.

Winger Anthony Forde arrived from Wolves last week. But with the Iron preparing for a final push in their fight for survival, Laws says he will act if he gets the chance.

“Whilst we’re very mindful of the position we’re in, I think it’s important we actually keep our finger on the pulse and get ready, if there is an opportunity,” he said.

“And certainly if there is an opportunity, I’ll take it.

“That doesn’t mean to say something’s going to happen, but I will be prepared for that and I’m certainly looking to see if I can do anything before it closes.

“But I’ll also have to do a little bit of wheeling and dealing along the way.

“I suppose the answer is to watch this space.”

Although keeper Eirik Holmen Johansen was brought in to cover for an injury to Sam Slocombe, any further incomings would almost certainly have to be preceded by outgoings in a bid to free up some finances.

“It’s a maybe,” Laws continued.

“I’m not going to say we’re not (going to bring anyone it) because that would be wrong.

“There might be a possibility. It won’t be for the lack of trying.

“I’ll be pulling and pulling as much as I possibly can to try to achieve it. But there’s going to be a few things that would have to trigger it.

“Somebody would have to go out first, on that side of it, or we have to create some kind of finances.

“Or it would take a serious injury, like we had to do with the goalkeeper. We had to make a financial decision on that occasion.”

“Oh dear ironite, you've embarassed yourself yet again. The 'know your club' hyperbole, as you call it, typically comes from either PStoff or FHall and certainly not me. Along with your other vitriolic false accusations that I pointed in the well commented post below you apepar to have very little credibility left. Not sure why you bother to be honest. Ever considered a career in politics?

What say I xchaoot? Raleigh - it's a make of cycle mate.”

“Care to offer your two pennies worth Dreery as to why we didn't waste £750k on Rob Jones. By my count the "undisclosed" (before you resort to the "know your club" hyperbole) amount was £350-400k. Our average salary for that season was £165,000 and known that Jones was one of our highest earners who was with us for two seasons. Would you like a calculator?

What's that? Some empirical evidence of our Chairman showing ambition and you trying to denying it ever happened. Who'd have thought? But no-one will ever be surprised will they, that's as predictable as a moth being attracted an open flame.”
