He revealed how he likes to write his own material and would like to perform some on the show.

He embarrassed his mum by revealing she really admires Philip Schofield!

The show ran clips of him performing in Saturday's heat.

He is now through to the section in which the contestants visit the homes of the celebrity showbiz judges.

Jake said during his This Morning interview: "Boot camp was a crazy experience. Nobody expected Robbie Hance to pull out. We rehearsed throughout the day while Robbie was on the sofa for three hours.

“We rehearsed into the night and thought we could nail it.

"When Robbie stopped in the audition I was trying to listen to the song and get it right. It was crazy.

“Every year I thought about auditioning but would come up with an excuse. This year was perfect because we could sing our own music and play the guitar.

"Every lad put through in my category is amazing and are the best bunch ever.

"If I don’t make it through to the live shows it is not my time.

"I would audition again if I did not make it through."

“What a load of old tosh your comments are scunnywilko, I'm sure we've all buried a loved one at some point in our lives, got up, dusted ourselves off and got on with the daily task of living. Looks like you're going to be spending a hellish amount of time hanging around the crem, cold, wet, and getting your head blown off (not literally or you might be a hero) in these high winds.

This article is about Jake, he's done good, you can't knock this young man, he's got the lot, talent, good looks, charisma, I think he can wave goodbye to his lifeguard days.”

“Blah blah blah, tell you what, I'll hang around the crem next week handing out teh Victoria Cross to all those who get on with their lives after burying loved ones.

HE IS NOT A HERO, good on him for carrying on but that is not heroism.”

“Well good luck to him, theres a lot of competition this year & amazing acts so he has done well to make it through to this stage. I usually hate x factor but the artists seem to be evolving abit more with their own songs and styles.

I suppose media are just so excited scunthorpe is being made known for something or someone coming out of it, but there is a heck of alot of stories about it lol”

“Oh well, so he's put Scunny on the map, that'll make him a hero. Like Elliot Morley did, is he a hero too? Sorry but he's no hero, he's doing OK for himself in a (no) Talent contest but that's hardly heroic.

Lots of people bury relatives, that's hardly a pre-requisite for heroism. Happiness is not heroic. Good on him for carrying on but that's not heroism.”

“I think you are taking the word 'hero' far too literally, and just nit-picking, he's an accomplished artiste. To get this far in the competition he really must be something, especially when he had to put up with the childish antics of Mr Hance, that was enough to put him off his stride.

Give him his due, he's put Scunny on the map for all the right reasons, I hope he goes all the way, even if he doesn't, he's probably carved out a nice little earner in the music industry.
Watch this space. Well done Jake1”

“For god's sake - shut up and give the lad a break, he buried his 19 year old brother on Friday who died after suffering from cancer, him and his family deserve some happiness.”

“Hero? I'm sure the troops putting their lives on the line daily, the fire, police and ambulance staff who keep us safe or the doctors and nurses in the local A&E would have a different view.”
