The home team made the first telling attack, winning a right wing corner kick but this was cleared.

Brigg responded with a quick break down the left and when the ball was switched inside for Paul Grimes, he was brought down inside the penalty area with strong claims for a penalty waved aside.

Then Liam Davis slipped on the edge of the area with a free kick awarded but Paul Grimes’ shot went over the bar.

Gary Hay looked a main threat up front for the home team with some strong runs into good positions and Miles Fenty saved his first attempt on goal.

Chasetown took the lead after twelve minutes when they attacked down the right wing and Chas Fisher missed out leaving LEE BUTLER free to shoot strongly to the near post.

Miles Fenty saved his first shot well but the ball bounced back for the midfielder to make no mistake with his follow up.

This was a clear set back after a promising start but Brigg had a great chance to level the score five minutes from the break when Liam Davis took control of a mistake by Matthew Jackson on the right wing and was left with an open goal but his shot went past the far upright.

Play in the second half was fairly even but clear openings scarce at both ends.

Liam Dickens made a good run from midfield before taking a return pass to knock it over the advancing goalkeeper.

The second goal decided the game and was scored ten minutes from time after substitute Sam Downey was knocked off the ball at the edge of the Chasetown penalty area and they attacked swiftly down the right wing where ANDY WESTWOOD made space before sending a firm shot into the roof of the net.

Brigg Town: Fenty, Ashton, Dudley, Davies, Hellewell, Fisher, Davis, Dickens, Holden, Grimes, Buttle; subs: Sam Downey for Danny Buttle (65), Gee, Flett, Broughton and Zand not used.

Attendance: 212.

Next Saturday afternoon, Brigg travel to play at league leaders Coalville Town and follow this up with a home game on Tuesday March 12 against Loughborough Dynamo.
