SCUNTHORPE will be the envy of the boxing world on Bonfire Night after Frank Bruno agreed to join Mike Tyson at the opening of a local gym.

One-hundred additional tickets have been made available for the Dynamite School of Boxing launch night, which will host the pair, and can be purchased from the Fallen Hero clothes store in Scunthorpe High Street.

The pair twice went head-to-head for the heavyweight world-championship, but have not appeared together in public since Tyson stole the world-belt from Bruno, in what emerged to be the final fight of Frank's career.

Bruno said: "It will be a pleasure for me to open the gym with Mike, we had two epic battles and I have the utmost respect for him.

"I've heard what Leon is doing with the kids boxing and I think it is fantastic.

"Boxing saved me from a downward spiral and I am sure it will do the same for many of these youngsters."

Bruno and Tyson will hold a short training session with youngsters from the new £1-million academy before the main event, which will see the boxers enter the ring in true Vegas style, before a brief exhibition of their fighting moves.

Event organiser Leon Dobbs said: "We were thrilled enough to be able to bring Tyson to Scunthorpe, but the opportunity to bring together these fighters, who arguably contested two of the best fights of all-time is something I don't think will ever be repeated.

"We're expecting the extra tickets to go very quickly, Frank is such a popular fighter, and such a popular personality, we felt we had to make more available.

"The tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis, and will be the final tickets on sale for this event."

“If you're saying most children won't know who they are then they probably wont know about the rape conviction either. He might not be a very nice person, but hes opening a 'Boxing School' - teaching children to fight isn't a good idea either really is it? But he is coming to promote sport, and a new business, not to tell people how to act in their personal lives.
People in this town are never happy, we get the Great Britain cycle race come through and people complain about the roads being blocked, we're getting new schools, but peolple aren't happy about the delays. A new leisure centre but people complain about the land being used and the park etc that is going to disapear, but they don't want the land there anyway because of the unsociable behaviour there by young people. A new entertainment venue, but we've knocked down an old building. At the end of the day ,things might be delayed, and yes, you could argue that half these 'ideas' that the council throw up might never happen, but surely new businesses and regeneration can only be a good thing?
Yea Mike Tyson isn't a good role model, but why shouldn't a boxing school have a famous boxer open it?”

“englander and brian, you should both learn to spell, and actually be pleased that someone is doing something to promote the town, where as if any one from outside of the area reading these comments will think less of it, knowing it has halfwits that aren't happy when nothing good happens and aren't happy when something to promote thje place does!!! hypocritical fools.”
