He has invested more than £15,000 in the technology, designed by driving performance group, Greenroad.

The technology is called Telemetry and works by allowing a bus driver to see any sudden movements during the journey.

Mr Hornsby said this technology allowed for a much smoother ride.

He said: "Telemetry is used in F1 to see where cars can go faster.

"We of course monitor where we can drive smoother, saving fuel and we now have eight per cent less emissions, making us greener.

"Our drivers have achieved the lowest average green/safety score for a medium sized bus company throughout the UK and North America over the past 12 months.

"I applaud them for embracing something new."

Greenroad software measures the movement in the bus and any sudden changes are indicated to the driver on his dash by red and amber lights.

If the driving is smooth, the green light shows.

The driver can also see in detail his route and scores and study where he can improve by way of an app.

He said: "I am also trying to highlight to the public the fact that buses are much improved from the buses of years gone by.

"If you haven't ridden by bus recently, you should.

"As cars become dearer to run, more people should make a habit of using the bus where they can.

"In return we are making the bus ride so much smoother, more punctual and environmentally cleaner."
