This year, SPS Group Services will be entering a team for the first time.

The facilities management services company, which provides contract cleaning and security services to clients throughout the North, is entering a team of five from its head office in Neptune Street, Hull.

SPS's Lee Stephenson said the company was already looking to clean up the competition.

"We've never entered the corporate challenge before but I've taken part in the Hull 10K as an individual," he said.

"As a Hull company we are keen to support local events, and as this is for a fantastic cause, we didn't hesitate to sign up.

"However, we signed up with the desire to take part in the corporate challenge and that has quickly become a desire to win."

SPS marketing manager Kate Carroll said: "It's a great opportunity for a bit of team- building as well as raising some money for a good cause. I hope lots of other companies come and join in the fun."

Entries for the KC Corporate Challenge were officially opened yesterday at an event in Hull city centre hosted by KC, Run For All and representatives from SPS Group Services.

As well as challenging each other to be first past the 10K finishing post, participants will also use their brain and brawn at a pre-race networking night.

Gary Young, KC's business and consumer director, said: "We're excited to be sponsoring the Hull 10K Corporate Challenge and to be working with Mike Tomlinson and his team.

"We've entered a team into the corporate challenge for the past three years and our employees have really enjoyed it.

"The corporate challenge is a fantastic opportunity for businesses of all sizes to get involved in one of the city's best events.

"It's a great team-building opportunity and a way to engage in some friendly competition with other companies away from the usual business environment.

"The event is also a great way to raise money for charity, either one you feel passionately about or one of the Hull 10K official charities."

Run For All events director Sara Birkinshaw said: "We're thrilled that after entering the competition each year in the past, KC has enjoyed it so much it has decided to sponsor the event.

"It is great to have the company on board for what we are certain will be another very successful year."

A corporate team entry for ten costs £550, while smaller firms can enter a team of five for £275. The price includes the networking evening.
