CCTV cameras 'money well spent'
CCTV cameras installed in Crowle Market Place are hailed a success by Isle of Axholme residents and businesses.
Last year, two CCTV cameras were installed in Crowle, one in the market place and one on the High Street, in a £27,000 crime prevention plan.

Between April 2008 to March 2009 Humberside Police received 189 calls for service relating to anti-social behaviour at Crowle – an average of 15 calls per month.
But of these calls police say very few were to the Market Place.
Inspector Brett Rutty, of Humberside Police, said: "The CCTV cameras were located in the market place in relation to anti-social behaviour. Statistically, anti-social behaviour is particularly low in the market place but, anecdotally, putting cameras there has been worthwhile - residents feel at ease by its presence."
Each camera is directly linked to police teams who can deploy officers to catch yobs in the area.
Crowle butcher David Parkin supported the installation of the cameras. He said: "The CCTV cameras in the Market Place are very effective.
"Although I don't think they are being used to their full potential, it's money well spent."
And Brian Hastings (74), of Wharf Road, Crowle, said: "I think the CCTV cameras are a big step forward. They make some people feel more secure and evidently assist in solving certain types of crime."

“Knowing Crowle well, the camera's have done what they do everywhere......moved the problem somewhere else. Potts Lane for instance?? Still.... at least the councils investment in the Market Place will be safer........what a co-incidence!”
