“A GROOVY KIND OF LOVE” – VARIOUS ARTISTS (Sony Music) - Fans old and new of the music of the 1960s will love this definitive collection released in time for Valentine’s day. A staggering 73 tracks are featured on this three-CD set which is the male answer to last year’s smash hit Be My Baby. The music is timeless as Ben E King, Dion. Nilsson, Jackie Wilson and Roy Orbison and a host of household names bring back the glory days. 9/10.
”TALES OF FLYING AND FALLING” – BEN MONTAGUE (Nusic Sounds) - A stand up and be counted debut album from hotly-tipped British singer/writer Ben Monague. Tales is all about love, joy and soul as young Montague revs up for the big time. Songs like Liberty Road and Another Hard fall are delightful. 8/10.
“LEAF” – CAVE PAINTING (Third Rock) - The latest single from front man Adam Kane and his Brighton band which suggests promise for the future. 7/10.
“ANGELS WITHOUT WINGS” – HEIDI TALBOT (Navigator Records) - There’s a cracking collaboration on this album of original songs from the former member of Irish- American supergroup Cherish the Ladies. The girl from County Kildare was joined for the live session in her Glasgow studios by top-flight musicians like Mark Knopfler, Phil Cunningham and Boo Hewerdine. Heidi’s brand of traditional folk
