Cable Catcher gives students edge over competition
YOUNG entrepreneurs from a North Lincolnshire school came out on top in this year's Enterprise in Action programme, run by Young Enterprise.
The Quantum Quality mini-company, from Baysgarth School, in Barton-Upon-Humber, won the Humber region grand final with their Cable Catcher product.
The device is used to tidy up cables around computers and was enough to see the team beat competition from five other schools.
The competition sees pupils aged between 13 and 15 participate in the programme, before their prototype products are judged.
Baysgarth link teacher, George Beastall, said: "This was the first time I've run anything like this at Baysgarth School.
"I'm so proud of the team, who showed amazing commitment and maturity throughout the whole experience."
The ET Technobots team, from St Lawrence Academy, in Scunthorpe, also reached the grand final, which was held in Hull.
Their product was an innovative luxury pen with added features designed for the older generation.
Young Enterprise development manager, Stella Onyett, said: "Enterprise in Action has been popular with the schools such as Baysgarth and The St Lawrence Academy in our area and it is crucial to engage local business representatives to get involved.
"It really is a fantastic way for our students to learn first hand about business, warts and all."
