Carling Cup cheer would be perfect tonic for Joe Murphy
ALTHOUGH Scunthorpe United's belief they will achieve their league ambitions remains unshakeable, a top-up in confidence would do no harm at all, according to Joe Murphy.
The Iron stopper is viewing tonight's Carling Cup encounter against Sheffield Wednesday as an opportunity to do just that, and halt a run of successive defeats in the process.

"I am not saying the confidence is gone but winning does breed confidence," said Murphy ahead of the Owls clash.
"They will fancy their chances but we played well against them in pre-season.
"If we can get another victory then we will be back on the winning way and looking forward to the league game on Saturday.
"I am sure the gaffer won't make too many changes from the team (who played at QPR).
"After two defeats you want to win the next game.
"When you lose you want to win as soon as you can – and tonight is a great opportunity."
With cup runs adding extra games to an already demanding fixture list, Murphy is not too concerned at this stage of the season.
"Early on in the rounds, it is not too bad," he added.
"You want to get some victories and you want to get some fitness.
"If you get into the later rounds it can play on your mind when you are playing against the big boys.
"But for us now, we need a victory to get us back positive."
