The return of this year's Cash For Your Community will see Scunthorpe Telegraph readers vote for groups to win a slice of £20,000.

North Lincolnshire Council has teamed up with the Telegraph to bring back the successful campaign, which aims to reward charity and not-for-profit groups with cash rewards.

The council has invested £10,000 and the Telegraph has matched the amount with a further £10,000 to enable groups to benefit from a total of £20,000.

Registration forms will be printed in the Scunthorpe Telegraph on Thursday, October 18 with the first set of voting coupons to be printed in coming weeks.

Once again, readers will decide how much of the £20,000 cash pot is given to each group by collecting the coupons and choosing a club to vote for.

Every group, club and not-for-profit organisation to have successfully made the final 200 is guaranteed a payout, with the amount of cash they receive relying heavily on support from readers.

And those groups that entered last year need not fear, for they can reapply for cash.

Jenny Holt, promotions co-ordinator at the Scunthorpe Telegraph, said: "We are really pleased to have Cash For Your Community launching again this year. It went down really well in 2011 and we have had a great response from all community groups and the community area.

"We hope to have different groups this year but of course it's open to everybody.

"To get a slice of money, they have to collect coupons and the amount of money each group gets will depend on how many coupons are collected."

Mrs Holt said the campaign received a great response from groups that won cash last year.

She said: "Even groups that won £50 last year were so appreciative. It gave them a chance for people to learn more about their group and gets the community involved to help local groups and sports clubs."

The Gooch Judo Kwai 2000 Club came first in our Cash For Your Community prize last year, winning £1,266.71.

Club coach Tina Parker said: "We will definitely be doing the same again this year. It was great to win last year because we don't get much funding, so we have to look for it."

Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: "We are really excited to be supporting the Cash For Your Community campaign.

"It is essential that the fantastic work that our community groups do is supported financially. Both the Scunthorpe Telegraph and North Lincolnshire Council have a brilliant track record in supporting the community and most importantly delivering for really worthwhile causes."
