And to celebrate, we are giving 75 readers the chance to win £75.

The Cash in a Flash competition launches today (Thursday, September 6), with thousands of pounds up for grabs throughout September.

To be in with a chance of winning, eagle-eyed readers must spot the number of times the Telegraph's 75th anniversary logo, as shown on the advert, right, appears in each week's newspaper.

From today, 10 readers have the chance to win £75 by entering the text competition.

That will double to 20 readers from Thursday, September 13, with a further 20 prizes up for grabs from Thursday, September 20.

For the competition's final week, 25 readers will win £75.

The closing date for each competition will be on the Sunday after the newspaper is published on the Thursday.

As a special bonus, some of the lucky winners will get the opportunity to step into a "Grab A Grand" machine and win up to £1,000.

The air-blown machine will be similar to that used in classic television show The Crystal Maze.

The first ever edition of the Scunthorpe Telegraph, then known as the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph, appeared on September 8, 1937.

The lead story on its front page told of a fatal motorcycle accident on Brigg Road, Scunthorpe, involving a mystery Irish labourer.

The newspaper became known as the Scunthorpe Telegraph in 2002.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice has also helped to celebrate the Telegraph's 75th anniversary, which coincides with the hospice's 20th birthday.

Hospice staff blew out candles on a birthday cake, decorated with candles showing the number 75.

Karen Andrew, a senior nurse in the hospice's inpatient department, said: "We are thrilled to be celebrating the Telegraph's 75th anniversary, which coincides with our 20th anniversary.

"We would like to thank the Telegraph for its support, with our fundraising activity and recognising the efforts of all of our volunteers."

Chris Dyer, a senior nurse for daycare, said: "The Telegraph helps us increase our profile to the general public.

"Here's to the next 75 years of the Telegraph and the next 20 years of the hospice."

Mel Banham, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: "It is tremendously important to have a local newspaper like the Telegraph, which has been part of the community for so long and hopefully will continue to be so.

"The regular news updates on what is happening at the hospice, all of our fundraising activities and the people who help with fundraising is part of the reason why Lindsey Lodge Hospice is such an important local charity and has developed in the way it has."

Cash in a Flash is the latest promotion to celebrate 75 years of the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

It follows a Birthday Bash concert, held at the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe in July.
