ANOTHER letter calling for a halt to the Humber Bridge toll rises has been sent to the Government.

Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce sent a letter formally objecting to the proposals after a council meeting yesterday.

The Chamber, which represents about 1,500 businesses in the Humber region, follows the region's politicians and Scunthorpe Telegraph readers in writing to Secretary of State Ruth Kelly.

Chamber president Carol Thomsett said: "There is a strong case for abolishing or reducing the tolls, and we are looking forward to putting that to the Government."

The letter from the Chamber is the latest move in a week where the business community has shown a united front against the planned toll rise.

Companies across the region have joined the Telegraph's campaign 'A Toll Too Far'.
