Chef locating 90 per cent of ingredients within two-mile radius of restaurant
A CULINARY masterchef says North Lincolnshire produce is so good that he is sourcing almost all of his ingredients locally.
Top chef Colin McGurran, of Winteringham Fields, is now sourcing 90 per cent of his ingredients for his delicious dishes from within a two-mile radius of his restaurant.
The move not only allows green- fingered Colin to support local producers and farmers, but also helps the restaurant limit its carbon footprint and have full control over every ingredient on the menu.
"Similarly to the foundations of a building, ingredients are the very essence of a faultless dish," said Colin.

"At Winteringham Fields, nothing less than perfection will suffice and, in exercising 100 per cent control over the production and selection of our produce, this can be achieved.
"From the hen's eggs we serve at breakfast, to the belly-of-pork on our famous Menu Surprise, guests will be treated to nothing but Lincolnshire's finest."
Before dining, customers at Winteringham Fields are able to take a tour around the small farm the kitchen team has created in the fields surrounding the restaurant to see the hens lay the eggs they will be tasting the next day at breakfast.
The team also regularly forages for wild garlic and picks strawberries and wild berries for their delectable home-made jams and curds.
Pheasant, partridge, pigeon and duck are all also bought fresh from the shoots on the farms local to the restaurant.
Colin said the locally-sourced cuisine has already impressed customers. "Our customers have been delighted with the results," he said.
"Not only are we highlighting sustainable and forgotten ingredients from the local area and championing our own producers, but diners are not forced to choose from a menu which showcases imported, exotic and endangered produce."
Winteringham Fields is nestled away in one of North Lincolnshire's prettiest villages.
The restaurant, which is owned and run by the McGurran family, is recognised as one of the best in the north of England.
