It's child's play for a North Lincolnshire woman who has turned her doll house hobby into a new business venture that has opened in Scunthorpe.

It's A Small World has been opened by Linda Bird, at the former We Buy Gold store, on Mary Street, Scunthorpe.

Linda used to sell her dolls houses and scale miniatures at the store that she managed.

After the former owners pulled out of the business, Linda decided to take it on full-time.

"It is a hobby. I have always been in to dolls' houses and have one at home," she said.

"It is great to finally open my own shop doing this and something I am really looking forward to doing.

"We have everything from dolls' mansions, a church, stables and all the furniture to go with it, right down to the little miniature ducks."

The designs have captured the eyes of those in the field, with the store's churches appearing in September's edition of Dollshouse World Magazine.

The We Buy Gold store closed in August, with Linda setting up the new store this month.

Linda said the store offered something different to what is currently on the High Street.

"It is nice to come in to a store and to receive a personal service that you will get from me," she said.

"It will be a first for the town and something different for the High Street.

"There is nothing like it in Scunthorpe. We don't even have a toy shop any more.

"We have fully refurbished the store since we moved in and got it looking how we want.

"We have looked at expanding. There is chance to move in to the upstairs of the building.

"Anyone would be welcome to come in to the store for a look round or any advice."

The store offers a deposit scheme, enabling customers to purchase the goods and pay for them over a set period of time.

The store will be open Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 6pm.
