CHILDHOOD sweethearts Anita Gardiner and Carl Stephen Robinson were married at The Habrough Hotel, Habrough, where Joanne Drinkell officiated.

Anita, the daughter of Alan and Pat Capp, of Barton-Upon-Humber, is a housewife.

Carl, the son of Marion Chantry of Barnetby, is sales manager for the Hot Tub Company and a trombone player in the championship section of Barton Town Brass Band who were finalists at the Royal Albert Hall.

Carl and Anita have known each other for 38 years, living opposite each other in Barnetby and attending Barnetby Junior School and the Vale of Ancholme Secondary School. They started courting at 15 and were inseparable for four years. Due to their respective careers they drifted apart although met up at local Christmas and New Year dances where they would have the last waltz to Engelbert – the Last Waltz becoming their signature tune.

A chance meeting at the funeral of deputy headmaster George Mounsey rekindled their love and several months later Carl proposed to Anita.

The bride was given away by her father and attended by flower girls Freya Hall and Olivia Hall.

Best man was Jonathan Evison and playing the piano was 16-year-old nephew, Joshua Scarfe.

A reception was held at The Habrough Hotel where Barton Town Band played at the evening reception
