Christmas shopping suggestions for Scunthorpe and district, including Brigg and Epworth
With everything from department stores to craft markets, Scunthorpe and other areas of North Lincolnshire have everything you need to wrap up your Christmas shopping this year.
Whether you are looking for designer brands or unusual one-off gifts you will find an array of great shops and stalls on your doorstep.
One place offering a fun-filled and atmospheric setting for your seasonal spree is Brigg town centre.
On Friday, November 30 the Market Place and Wrawby Street will be transformed into a festive wonderland complete with fairground rides, market stalls and pantomime characters.
The evening will also feature free parking, late-night shopping and the switch-on of the town's Christmas lights.
Alison Hannath, assistant clerk at Brigg Town Council, said: "There is always quite a buzz about the place. My children were aged seven and nine last year and they really enjoyed it. As well as the market and the lights switch-on there are also fairground rides and characters from the Scunthorpe pantomime who tell a few jokes and get people in the mood. There is something for everybody really."
The Christmas Fair is organised by the local Lions Club, ensuring that as well as getting a head start on your present-buying you are also helping local charities.
Alison added: "Some are stalls selling things like crafts and cards and others are there to promote local groups. The Angel Suite also has stalls gin it and a lot of the shops are open late."
The light switch on takes place at 5pm and people are advised to gather in the Market Square from 4.45pm.
Another North Lincolnshire town that is pulling out all the stops this year is Epworth.
The town is hosting a special Christmas Food Fair on Saturday, December 1.
Featuring everything from gourmet fishcakes to fresh meat and the famous Linclonshire Poacher cheese, it has everything you need to ensure your guests get a delicious taste of the county's produce this year.
Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:"Epworth is a delightful little town with plenty to see and do during the countdown to Christmas. You can be sure to leave the Christmas Food Fair with all the trimmings you'll need to celebrate the festive season, from home-baking to gourmet cheese and handmade chocolates to Christmas decorations."
