FORTY players signed in for a morning draw at Ashby Decoy Golf Club.

An Am/Am Stableford was played over 18 holes, with the two practice holes taking the place of 17 and 18 whilst new drainage was completed.

The course was in good condition following the adverse weather, with the greens playing particularly fast for the season.

In first place, with 84 points and a better back nine, was the team of Alan Harrison, Brian Rothwell, Phil Graves and Ray Leong.

Also with 84 points, and taking second place, was the team of Stan Ward, Alan Teece, Arthur Alan and Graham East.

Third place, with 83 points, went to John Espin, Sid Cuthbert Geoff Dowse and Paul Wagg.

The twos competition was held over the sixth and 12th holes.

Harold Irvin managed a two on each of the holes, whilst six other players scored one – Geoff Dowse, Colin Winney, Keith Rogers, John Glencross and Richard Bowers.

The ladies played a four ball Texas Scramble. The winning team of Dian Humphries, Margaret Fish, Christine Deary and Marilyn Hall played a dazzling game and came in with a score of 63.2.

The runners-up were ladies captain Yvonne Cook, Pat Donaldson, Margaret Clark-Coates and Elaine Johnson with a good 64.7.
