THE founding principal of John Leggott College has brought the curtain down on the school's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Talented art, performing arts and media students showcased their skills with vibrant and intricate displays in front of scores of visitors on Thursday.

Special guest Eric Charlesworth, 94, the founding college principal, was delighted with the event which rounded off a year of commemorative celebrations.

He said: "I am very honoured to be part of all the 40th anniversary celebrations.

"At my age I am very lucky to still be here.

"I have enjoyed all of the wonderful occasions and I am truly delighted to see lots of magnificent work on display and some inspiring dance routines."

College principal Nic Dakin was delighted with the final event.

"It is wonderful to see so many people enjoying the hard work of our pupils," he said.

"The calibre of their work is great and it is a real credit to our teaching staff.

"It is always nice to have Eric at such celebrations, he is a tremendous supporter and ambassador of the college."

AS art student Emma-Jane Sabin, 16, from Westwoodside, said displaying her works at the college's exhibition was a great honour.

"It is a real privilege to be part of the exhibition and the 40th anniversary celebrations," she said.

    “Stan,Scunny.
Initially I was going to ignore your comment, but I have bitten.
Yes i did fail English but did manage to get a few grade 1 passes which did help me into the position I am in now as a consultant with some of the world's major corporations ( tax free earnings this year 924000 QAR )
As for the creeping accusation, pure nostalga, Memories of an important part of my formative years and most heart felt thoughts to all those mentioned.
Bet you went to the Green Grammar, either there or Ashby Pram pushers, and yes I know it was an all girls school.
It must be hard going through life as a man trapped in a womans body, or vice versa a woman trapped in a mans body.”

“Oh dear "me, on the trail", at least we know who the class toady was! I've never seen so much creeping outside of the insect house at London Zoo. Did you fail English? You should have done!

I have a suggestion for the 40th Anniversary... The Dakin Building, a state of the art sanatorium with full X-Ray facilities and isolation ward. Just in case the TB epidemic gets any worse.”
