Congratulated by Olympic heroes
THE St Lawrence Academy PE Department won the National State School of the Year Award at the Aviva & Daily Telegraph School Sport Matters Awards 2012, held in London on November 14.
Sports superstars were there to congratulate the winners.
Zac Cowling, who nominated the academy, found out we were shortlisted and into a final three.
The academy was extremely honoured but shocked to be recognised as the winner of such a prestigious award and felt it was a momentous achievement.

Natasha Pell, of 11E, who travelled with the staff, commented: "During my day in London I met many famous and inspirational Olympians and Paralympians.
"It was a great experience and one I won't ever forget.
"Throughout the day we saw many talented and promising sport stars collecting awards.
"It was a complete shock to win but our PE department fully deserves the award and all of the recognition.
"I thoroughly enjoyed the day and hope many more awards are to come our way."
Tom Daley, Christine Ohuruogu and Jessica Ennis were just a few of the Olympic stars that were there to congratulate the St Lawrence Academy.
The physical education department would like to thank a number of people because the award is not only just about the academy's hard work but the hard work of the dedicated students and their hard-working families, along with the rest of the community and partners.
Without all of these people working together, the academy would never have been able to get such an amazing award.
