PLANS to refurbish North Lincolnshire secondary schools are on track, despite the national Building Schools for the Future programme coming under fire from MPs.

The Government's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) branded the Building Schools for the Future scheme 'over-optimistic' and 'poorly planned'.

But with a contractor in place and work about to begin on two schools this summer, the project is working well in North Lincolnshire.

Tony Gosling, North Lincolnshire Council's cabinet member for children's services, said: "The final business case has now been made and has gone through cabinet.

"We are very positive about BSF in North Lincolnshire and the benefits it will bring to teaching and learning.

"Children and young people have had input into the BSF project, parents and residents who live nearby have had their say, as have the school staff.

"What is important to the council is that we deliver what we say we are going to deliver on behalf of children and young people so that we produce first-class schools."

BSF will benefit student's across North Lincolnshire including Brigg, Barton and the Isle.

“Has anyone else picked up that of late the Telegraph is regularly being 'selective' in its lack of e-reporting, on this web site, all the news items, relevant to NLC, that are published in the paper?

For instance, where is todays web coverage of the reports exposing the Governments findings and criticisms against the councils' Icelandic investments and the complaints against NLC!?

Is there perhaps some 'sensitivity' to the potential for the immediate public scrutiny, regular comments and negative publicity that such reports may generate and attract to detract from NLC's image and reputation!?”
