Councillor Neil Poole, the authority's cabinet member for policy and resources, said: "The council wants to become more commercial and sell its quality services to schools, not just in North Lincolnshire but also on a more regional scale.

"Our services not only aim to give value – they add value, as the council, unlike other providers, has a stake in the area's young people as the shapers of our shared future.

"We offer a variety of excellent services, increased resilience and service capacity that schools and academies can benefit from."

Mr Poole was unable to say how much income the council hoped to generate from selling services to schools.

Call 01724 297980 for more details on the services available.

“Albeit this has to be a mutually advantageous business relationship that will hopefully avoid schools and colleges paying more for private service provision and to thereby invest any savings to better fund their schooling core function.

However, having worked as a regulator and alongside public services' Legal Services in the past. I would caution schools as to the quality of so called legal professionals who clearly can't cut the mustard to get into or stay in private practice and, that many do end up on the public sector scrapheap, so to speak!

And having said that; I wouldn't again even risk and trust this backwater's private legal firms with my conveyancing, never mind anything more legally taxing!!”

“There is nothing new about the council selling its services to schools as it has been doing this for over twenty years since schools were responsible for their own budgets. It needs to promote this 'new' commercial policy because for several years many schools have chosen to purchase these services from other providers and this will only increase as more schools become academies.”
