Spiderwoman: Mum beats tarantula terror
A SCUNTHORPE mother who is terrified of spiders held one of the world's largest tarantulas to raise cash for a children's charity.
Louise Marper 44, of Mansfield Road is petrified of spiders but she pushed aside her fears to hold not only one spider but two plus a scorpion for the when You Wish Upon A Star charity.
Mrs Marper said: "I held an emperor Scorpion, a Chilean rose spider and a salmon pink bird eater, which is one of the largest tarantulas in the world.
"I was told the tarantula could bite but I knew I had to hold it. I was terrified but I knew it was all in aid of charity."
As previously reported, her daughter Chloe was diagnosed with diabetes when she was three-and-a-half years old. When she was four she was treated to the Lapland trip.
The event was organised after Mrs Marper read about the Telegraph's Make a Wish Come True campaign.
