Crowle paratriathlete Alan Rayment to deliver talk at York St John University
A North Lincolnshire paratriathlete, is visiting York St John University to deliver a free public lecture, titled Wheelchair Warrior.
Alan Rayment from Crowle will deliver the talk on Thursday, March 21.

Alan is a bilateral amputee who had both legs amputated due to leg ulcers and MRSA in 1997 and 1998 and has been a wheelchair user ever since.
Amongst many of his achievements he has completed The London Marathon, Great North Run, hand cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats and completed the Tough Guy 10km race, known as the safest most dangerous race in the world.

In racing, Alan has collected medals at National, European and World level and is one of the original members of Team GB para triathlon squad representing GB since 2008.
York St John University recognised Alan's huge contribution to sport in 2011 by awarding him an honorary degree, Doctor of Health Sciences (honoris causa). He is returning to the University to give a lecture as part of York St John's Go York series.
Wheelchair Warrior will focus on Alan's journey and battles after losing both his legs, his academic challenges and how sport changed his direction in life.
During the talk, Alan will highlight the importance of the determination and drive that has enabled him to race for Team GB in Triathlon and complete many sporting events.
Go York is a series of lectures which bring together York St John University's eminent academics, high profile speakers and the local community for a series of events to be enjoyed by all.
Wheelchair Warrior will take place in De Grey Lecture Theatre, York St John University at 6:30pm on Thursday 21 March attendees are welcome to arrive from 5:45pm for refreshments and the opportunity to network.
