Proposals are in place to demolish the existing care home and build a 16-bungalow complex for elderly people in its place.
The plans will see North Lincolnshire Homes building the £1.8million complex, with care being provided by North Lincolnshire Council. The plans, that would see the current site demolished, have brought objections from residents, Winterton Town Council and Winterton Senior Citizens' Forum.

“This is more madness from this council, interfering and damaging vital services in our communities. It is a few people making decisions thats only they believe is right with no real consultation with residents.
If you want to help support DeLacy please turn up on Thursday 21st as follows to join in the protest and show these Tory councillors people power:
11am at DeLacy (planning site visit)
2pm at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe (planning meeting).
Remember councillors are put there by voters and its voters that have the power - lets stop the shambles and not let them do this in our name - If you want any more info happy to chat - paulmccartan (at) yahoo.com”

“I agree with Madcap 46, I know nothing of De Lacy house, but do know NLC should stop treating people as contents of a store room that can be shifted about willy-nilly and start treating them with RESPECT, wether they are Elderly, Disabled or having Mental issues they are still PEOPLE. Who need a stable, safe and loving enviroment with a sense of worth and not a nuisance.”

“De Lacy House has been at the heart of the community for many years enabling people to go there either permanently or for shorter terms. Events & activities were held there by local groups benefitting the residents who kept in touch with friends & family in the same way as if they were at home. De Lacy was NOT an institution.
Two years ago, De Lacy House was viewed by Adult Services as being superior to The Lilacs with "better facilities and in better condition". It was then NLC intention to move people to De Lacy House and dispose of The Lilacs (the building being 9 years older than De Lacy House). After a successful campaign The Lilacs remained open and now seem to be NLC favourite. Stop playing political games at the detriment of local people.
It is an absolute disgrace that proposals were only displayed for 3 1/2 days and this over the Xmas period. NO meaningful consultation has taken place.
The proposed "Care Complex" is NOT suitable for the needs of elderly who require 24 hours care. This would make people more vulnerable and isolated than if they are cared for in a
loving and supporting atmosphere with contact with friends and family. I know many people who have been cared for at De Lacy and all have always been full of praise for the staff and the surroundings.
Winterton has a population of over 5000 and doesn't have any other care establishment unlike Scunthorpe, Barton, Brigg which have lots of private care homes. Where are Winterton residents supposed to be shipped to when they need extra care that they are not able to receive at home?
It would be a sacrilege to demolish De Lacy and the superb Poirier Suite. Stop this madness!”
