Chris Dagnall will be tops for Iron says captain Cliff Byrne
CLUB captain Cliff Byrne believes Scunthorpe United fans will get to see the best of summer signing Chris Dagnall after the international break.
The former Rochdale striker bagged his first two goals for the Iron in the 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Carling Cup second round prior to the break, symbolising a steady progression toward his best form.

BELIEF: Cliff Byrne.
Although the two-week absence may have come at the worst possible time for the in-form frontman, Byrne is confident those goals will be the first of many for Dagnall in claret and blue.
Iron manager Nigel Adkins resisted the temptation to call in reinforcements up front on a permanent basis following the closure of the summer transfer window, suggesting faith in the abilities of Dagnall, a faith that is shared by Byrne.
"Daggers has been terrific – his work-rate is immense," said the Irishman.
"People have got to remember that Chris was playing a different kind of role in the first couple of games.
"We know what he is all about and I would certainly rather play with him than against him."

“Thanks Cliff for your last input on this site, telling us how the additions coming in to the squad over the few days are going to strengthen the squad.
Now you are resorting to bigging up players to deflect the let down. Why not say what you think, how you, Nige and the other players have been let down by the club and the chairman who is hanging on to every single penny just in case the improvements cost more than he has in the bank.
Get some quotes in and realise you have a surplus or loan the club if you haven't. This building scheme is not a single year thing, it will have benefits for years to come but by then we will have slipped away from this league because of a half season's lack of investment on the pitch.”

“Brian - do you bother reading anything online or simply skip through before typing about being a happy 'happy clapper'?
Why do you insist on declaring where your loyalty lies and where do you see any critism of Dagnall in my post?
Up the Iron!”

“Put faith in Nigel A or an exile from a certain POD web site. I know where my allegiance and loyalty lies.
The Dagnall Forte partnership will surprise many this season. Reminds me of the Sharp Keogh partnership. (tinted specs maybe but my glass is always nearly full.) UTI!!!!”

“Nevermind what Cliff Byrne thinks - surely it'd be of more relevance to hear first teamer, Eddie Nolans views?
As for Dagnall - hardest working centre forward since Martin Paterson? Personally, I prefer goalscorers to be lazy, wear long sleeved shirts, socks rolled down with a habit of waking up in the 89th minute with a winner - but thats football circa 2010 - a team without moustaches or charisma.
One Chris Dagnall - 'HE MADE A WAY OUT OF 'NO WAY', WITH JUST THE BIBLE AND A BELT ROUND THE EAR FOR MOTIVATION.”
