Iron caretaker boss Daws looking for another loan striker
CARETAKER manager Tony Daws is hoping to add another loan striker to the Scunthorpe United squad before today's 5pm transfer deadline.
It follows the expected return to Glanford Park today of former Iron full-back Marcus Williams on loan from Reading, which was revealed yesterday on our website: thisisscunthorpe.co.uk.

IN CHARGE: Caretaker duo Tony Daws (right) and Lee Turnbull before United's 2-0 defeat at Ipswich.
"Scoring goals is an area that we do need to improve on," confessed Daws.
"We are still trying to bring in another forward.
"It's important that we try to do that.
"Lee Turnbull and myself have been following up a number of leads and talking to a number of people on the telephone.
"What we are doing shows this club is still trying to do everything it can to stay in the Championship.
"The players have not accepted we are down. They showed that with the attitude they had in the dressing room after the 2-0 defeat at Ipswich last Saturday.
"We have got eight cup finals left between now and the end of the season in which to try to save ourselves."
Daws does not know whether he will still be in charge when United next return to action at Norwich a week on Saturday.
That will depend on the club's search for a new permanent manager to replace Ian Baraclough.
The board met yesterday and is likely to have started drawing up a shortlist.
But Daws has been instrumental in bringing Williams back to Glanford Park for his second spell.
And he believes the player’s familiarity with the club will be key for United.
“He is a player I wanted to bring back because we need an injection of pace in the team and we do not have too many left footers,” the United caretaker boss explained.
“I know things have not gone well for him at Reading and thought it was a good opportunity to bring him back here on loan.
“We know all about him, and he knows the set-up here at Scunthorpe and will not need time to settle in.
“With only a short time left before the end of the season, that is also important.”
Williams, 24, quit Glanford Park last summer for Reading but has only played three games there before being loaned out to Peterborough last November.
