Delight for Isle's David Cundall as buried Spitfires to be excavated in the Far East
By the end of this month, Isle of Axholme businessman David Cundall could finally realise his long-held dream of seeing 20 priceless and iconic war-time Spitfire planes recovered from underground storage after the best part of 60 years.
With the personal backing of Prime Minister David Cameron, official agreement has now been reached with Government officials in the Far East, where the Spitfires were buried in crates during the Second World War where Allied forces were battling the Japanese.
This agreement means that - at long last - the operation to uncover the Spitfires is about to begin.
Plane enthusiast David undertook a 16-year quest to identify the site, making about a dozen expensive visits over there.

“20 Spitfires, that should save the government some money.
We should deploy those instead of the police helicopters, 20mm cannons stop joyriders faster than cameras.”

“Excellent news,i can't wait to see them uncovered.
Maybe we can use them on the new aircraft carriers as we don't appear to have anything suitable for them at the moment and this would save the MOD a small fortune lol.”
